Obama for President? Why don’t we just let the local 7-11 clerk run IBM?

I’ve already posted on Obama’s positions here, here, and here, so I won’t go into that full-scale – except taht I honestly have to say that my third post is the same sentiment that this one is based on.  It’s very clearly summed up in this…

WE WILL SOON BE PLACING SOMEBODY INTO THE HIGHEST MANAGERIAL OFFICE IN THE WORLD!  WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY SHOULD WE PUT SOMEONE IN THAT POSITION WHO HAS ZERO MANAGERIAL EXPERIENCE IN GOVERNMENT!?????!!!!

I’m talking about BARACK OBAMA!  He’s got NO experience managing anything of significance, much less the highest political office in the world!  He’s proposed and worked toward legislation – VERY GOOD!  I appreciate that – really, I do!  But that’s a very FAR CRY from managing the entire government!

That’s part of what I don’t like about the way the race has shaken out – NONE of the current candidates, Republican or Democrat are experienced governmental managers – they are all legislators – a HUGE difference!  In the end we’ll have to put one of them in, even though the most senior of them has never managed a governmental organization either (McCain).  What a bummer!

I liked it much better when Rudy, Mike, and Mitt, or even Bill Richardson were still in the race.  At least they’ve all managed a state or city or some form of government!

My empassioned plea is this:  We wouldn’t ask the local clerk at the 7-11 store to manage all of IBM, so why would we ask a first term senator to manage the most powerful nation on earth?!!???!!??

  1. Carey, I think a legitimate question we should pose to those who potentially scoff at your comparison is …

“What profession allows you to go from an entry-level position, where you’re considered “junior” and “new,” to the highest possible management-level position in that organization — in only THREE years? ”

now lets ask what you would think if that same person, who’s been “working for three years” as an entry level employee in a huge organization – spent half of his time trying for another job?? wow… sounds like the type of employee I’d want to hire! better yet, i want that job!!

If anyone can come up with something that logically fits these guidelines – then I’ll seriously consider voting for Obama.

  2. There are some of us that are seeing amazing similarities to the predictions in the Bible….floods, famine, wars, etc, and feel that God is about to admit this was not a good idea after all. I for one ask for His mercy, not JUSTICE!!

  3. Hi John, thanks for chipping in to the conversation…

While I can agree with you that there are plenty of strange happenings going on in the world in terms of natural disasters, I suspect (though I’ve not researched it yet) that it’s no more than is historically the average. I think the reason it seems that way is that we now have world-wide news coverage that makes a spectacle out of everything.

Having said that though, I’m quite astounded at the magnitude of some of the most recent disasters – the tsunami a few years back, Katrina, the China earthquake recently… it does make you pause to consider, doesn’t it?

And regarding God thinking this was not a “good idea”… I have to believe that things are progressing just as He intended. He is soveriegn and none of this has caught Him by surprise.
