  • In my years as a Pastor I’ve talked with more than a handful of women whose husbands have hard hearts toward the gospel. It’s a sad situation, and one that is heavy on the heart of the wife in question. This article, by a woman who knows that pain, is very, very helpful.
  • The signers of the Declaration of Independence were a varied lot. Some were farmers (John Adams), others were ministers (John Witherspoon). Here is advice for raising godly children from the later of those two. Numbers 5, 6, 9, and 10 are especially applicable in our day.
  • Would you classify yourself as an introvert or an extrovert? Do you feel like it’s just the way you’re wired? I’d probably agree with you… I’m introverted in many ways and enjoy being so. But there needs to be a balance between how we are wired, and how the LORD might desire to use us, even in situations that don’t fit our wiring. I appreciated this post that ponders the issue…
  • If you’re into grammar or literature, you’ll get a kick out of this video. And if you ever had to write a “Haiku” in English composition class… you should like it too!

  • I’m like the writer of this article, very skeptical when it comes to modern day environmental claims. Yet, I do care about the environment. It can be hard to walk a line of balance between those two, especially when the “popular” notion of environmental care leans hard to the side of the very things I’m skeptical of. I found the article, based on the writings of a trusted old “friend” to be very helpful.
  • How many times in life do we ask the question of God, “Why does THIS have to happen to me?” – suffering is tough to handle.  Here’s a post to help us consider 12 reasons for suffering.

  • I want to begin today by saying Happy Birthday to my dear wife Mindi! We are apart at present (she’s been helping her folks move), but I’ll see her tomorrow!
  • There’s been a small bit of controversy lately surrounding an interview done by Gabby Reese, a heavy-duty pro volleyball player who in a recent interview was very outspoken about how learning about “submission” for her as a wife has saved her marriage. I found this summary of her comments very helpful.
  • Issues like abortion and same sex marriage are ones that we”one day long ago” never saw coming. Do you ever wonder what the issues are that are coming in our near future that we don’t see coming? This article is hitting one of them on the head. Read it. Carefully. Think about it. Consider how we might stem the tide now, before it hits us.

  • Fear is a huge motivator to all of us. Whether we want to admit it or not. Here’s an article that discusses two types of fear – one good and one bad. Though it’s aimed specifically at women, I think it applies to us all.
  • The following video is speaking only about physical appearance as it relates to beauty. What I want you to consider as you watch it is this: Do you think TRUTHFULLY about yourself (not only in regards to your physical appearance)? Do you see who God has made you to be? Do you recognize, admit, and embrace the gifts and abilities He’s given you? Do you give Him glory through living out of the reality of who you are? I’d love to hear your comments on this video (below).

  • Godly Manhood is a big deal… especially in a culture that says so many untrue things about manhood. Here are 3 great points about manhood that we would do well to consider more often.
  • The world recently reached 7 BILLION people in population… 7 BILLION. Each and every one of them is created in the image of God, and dearly loved by Him. How does this one to one representation strike you?

  • Are you responsible for others in the body of Christ “sexually?” You may be surprised at what this author thinks.
  • “A God without wrath and hell is not as loving as the God we find in the Bible.” That’s what Tim Keller says.
  • Shai Linn takes on the false teachers of our day… and names them. Listen carefully. We need clear truth like this in our day of “everyone’s opinion is right for them.”

  • For the past 33 years John Piper has faithfully served as Pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis. In what is one of the most wisely executed and well-done transitions I’ve ever witnessed (long distance) in a church ministry, his successor was chosen before he departed and is taking up the mantle of leadership immediately. This past Sunday was John’s last sermon as Pastor of Bethlehem, and he writes about the act of “finishing” his ministry there. Having recently resigned from my own Pastorate, assuming I’ll likely never take up that role again, I can relate with much of what he says.
  • Joshuah Harris has served the church at large well, for many years – and it sounds as if his latest book “Humble Orthodoxy” does no less. Here is a quote from Tim Challies about the purpose of the book: “Harris’ desire in this book is to encourage Christians to hold the truth high without putting people down.” Sounds like something worth reading, to me.
  • Google Maps has a treasure map view. Really.

  • Too often people go into marriage thinking about what they want from it… whether their spouse will meet their needs. Hmmmmm… makes me wonder if they understand the purpose of marriage at all. This article lays out some RIGHT expectations of marriage, and the attitudes all married couples need to have about each other.
  • An amazingly gut-level letter from a Gay sister in Christ (yes, I did say that. Read the letter).

  • Tim Challies wrote a blog post recently about doing what he called a “Social Media Heart Check.” I found it interesting and helpful, and hope you do too.
  • For a long time the state of Nevada has allowed legalized prostitution. But far ahead of Nevada is the Netherlands, and they are beginning to feel the repercussions of a bad idea gone even worse.
  • Ever have a hard time telling if a “teacher” is telling you the truth? Here’s a great article on “7 signs of false teachers.

  • Do you encounter the living Christ in your daily devotions? You can. Listen to John Piper teach about how, right here.
  • The deaths in the school shootings are horrible and tragic. But there are other, similar deaths happening every day, all round us – that the news hardly ever talks about.
  • In China, it is said that Christianity is legal. But much like in the history of various European countries, it’s only legal if it’s the State-run church. Here is a heart-wrenching article about how the government of China is systematically trying to eradicate the thriving house churches that exist in the country.
  • Don’t watch the video below unless you really want to be challenged by how your love for your spouse should/can reflect the love of God for His people. POWERFUL.
