If you’ve been in the church for any time at all, you’ve no doubt come across the issue regarding who should be allowed to take primary roles of leadership in the church (male or female?). You’ve probably also heard the hubbub about male/female roles within marriage (head and helper ring a bell?).
One of the most “volatile” words in that debate is the word “submit” – which is a Biblical word used in these contexts (Ephesians 5:22, Colossians 3:18).
What does that word mean anyway?
